The dream: easy timing and data logging for all.
Sidereal Timing Systems builds centimetre-level GPS timing for motorsport events of any size.

Accurate timing should not depend on the size of the event.
Pro-level timing should be available to any event, whatever its size or budget. Every driver should have data to improve with.
Timing a whole event today takes in-ground loops, trackside optical beams or wireless systems. Loops and beams are expensive and hard to set up and run. Wireless systems have a short range and still are not flexible. Time trials and travelling series end up hauling tripods out of the trailer at dawn.
Drivers who want their own data use phone apps or standalone loggers. The GPS built into a phone updates at only 1 Hz and can be metres off, and most GPS loggers are about 100 times less accurate than Sidereal (about 1 m against 1 cm). Drivers get frustrated.
With Sidereal you draw the timing lines on a satellite map, set up a base station under open sky and mount a device on each car. The lines are virtual, so they stay where you put them at every event, and no cable is laid. The device is also a data logger, so every driver gets accurate data to improve with.
Our goal is to help drivers get faster and series run better events.
No infrastructure. Show up and go.

Star time.
A sidereal day is one full rotation of the Earth measured against the stars rather than the sun. It lasts 23h 56m 04s, our planet's true rotation period.
GPS is one constellation of satellites, and its satellites orbit about every half sidereal day.
It's a core part of the orbital calculations that make GPS possible.
If you are going to time races off satellites, you may as well admit whose time you are keeping.
Built in Canada, proven on track.
Live timing already runs at DMS Time Trials events, and DMS is our anchor partner for the 2027 season at Stratotech Raceway. Every series gets its own live-timing domain, visual identity, and rulebook.
A limited number of additional series can join the 2027 Beta Pilot at pilot pricing. See the pilot rates.
We are based in Alberta, Canada.
